BANDAR SUNWAY – The Be My Protector campaign, launched by Change Your World SDN BHD (CYW), came to Taylor’s University on the 28th of April to spread the awareness towards Taylorians on human trafficking activities happening in Malaysia.
“This really opened my eyes on what is really going on in Malaysia,” Communication student, Muhajir shared, “It is sad to know that there are people suffering out there from human exploitation.”
Many students were gathered around the Taylor’s compound as a show was demonstrated on human trafficking. Ming Yee, a Communication student explained: “I heard a lot of screams coming from the little window of the ‘Tenaganita’ lorry that was parked right in front of the office. It was a well organized campaign and an interesting way to approach the students.”

Participants, especially Taylor’s students, were there to volunteer and help out the awareness campaign. Brian Lee, a diploma in Communication student volunteered to be a dancer under the flash mob event. Founder of CYW, Kelvin Lim, stated that this campaign is targeted amongst youths: “Many youths are the target of human traffickers and many have fallen into their trap.”
Apart from volunteers, various public personalities are involved to voice their support on the awareness of this campaign. “Subang Jaya Assemblyman, YB Hannah Yeoh, YB Yeo Bee Yin and YB Ng Sze Han are our main sponsors,” Kelvin shared. Taylorians were also given the opportunity to show their support by sharing a picture of them wearing a wrist band with Tenaganita’s hotline on Instagram using the hashtag #bemyprotector.

Public Personalities backing up this campaign
The students who witnessed the campaign found the campaign very informative and gained some interesting insights regarding the campaign. “Before this I did not know how serious this human trafficking activity is in Malaysia, but after the campaign I became more aware about this problem and paid more attention to the news,” Ming Yee commented.
Brian also shared on the aim of promoting this awareness towards Taylor’s Students: “This is not an anti-human trafficking campaign, it is a human trafficking awareness campaign. All Malaysians and students know about human trafficking in Malaysia, but no one really does anything because not many know how bad it really is. That is why Tenaganita and the Be My Protector campaign exists.”
